METHODS OF PLANNING WORK 5W – H – 2C – 5M

I. What is the 5W – H – 2C – 5M Work Planning Methodology?

The 5W – H – 2C – 5M work identification method is considered as the backbone to shape the plan’s goals, how to build a plan and most importantly, what to do to implement the management plan. there. It helps you:
– Systems thinking to predict these things can happen
– Coordinate all resources of the organization more effectively
– Focus on organizational goals and policies
– Master the basic tasks of the organization to coordinate with other managers
– Ready to respond and cope with changes in the external environment.

II. What is the process of the method?

1.W (Why)– Define goals, job requirements

Before doing any work or building a business plan, you need to be able to answer the following questions:
– Why do you have to do this job?
– What does it mean for your organization or department?
– What if you don’t?
In other words, this is the step to define goals, work requirements to help you stay on track to the original goal and evaluate the final performance..

2. W(What) – Define job content

After clearly defining the goals, job requirements; You can already figure out what you need to do. Specifically, what are the steps to do that part of the job?

3. W(Where), W(When), W(Who) – Determine the place, time and personnel to perform the work

Depending on the specifics of each business, managers have different answers to each of these questions.
• Where: where is the work done? Which part to check? Delivery at which location?
• When: When is the work done, when is it handed over, when is it finished?…
• Who: Who is primarily responsible for the work? Who is the tester? Who is the facilitator?…

4. H(How) – Determine the method of doing the work

In this step, the planner needs to clearly outline the work methods, the relevant documents, the standards for the work, the way to operate the machines, etc.

5. C(Control) – Define control method

Any job, when performed, needs to have steps of control and measurement. Some of the factors that can be mentioned are:
– Unit of work measurement?
– Measure with which tools and instruments?
– How many control points and critical control points are there?

6. C(Check) – Determine the test method

This is a pretty important step and needs to be followed by the Pareto principle: Check only 20% of the number but find 80% of the error volume.
Managers need to identify the following content for the test to achieve the desired effect:
– What work steps need to be checked?
– How often is the test?
– Who is the person doing the test?
– Which checkpoints are material?

7. 5M – Identify resources

Many plans often focus only on the work but not on the resources, but only the resources to ensure the plan is feasible.
Resources include the following elements:
– M(Man) – Human resources: Does the person performing the work have sufficient qualifications, skills, experience, and qualities?…
– M(Money) – Tiền bạc: Money: What is the budget to do these tasks? How many times will it be disbursed?…
– M(Material) – Materials/Supply System: What are the criteria to become a supplier? What are the material standards?…
– M(Machine) – Machine/technology: What is the standard of the machine? What technologies are used to get the job done?…
– M(Method) – Working method: How to work
